Information

Malaria is an infectious disease of humans and another animals caused by parasitic protozoans. It is transmited by the bites of infected mosquitos althought mosquitos aren’t affected by the parasite

Malaria is common in tropical areas including sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South America, the Indian subcontinent, South East Asia and the Pacific Islands. You can’t catch malaria in the UK. However, about 1,500 people are treated for it (in the UK) each year having become infected.

Medicines usually can treat the illness. But some malaria parasites may survive because they are in your liver or they are resistant to the medicine. If you’re going to an area where there is malaria, it’s very important that you take precautions to prevent the disease.

The Malaria is most abundant in Africa and in South Africa. Also there is in some areas like in the south of Asia.
